Looking retrospectively at my life, I see God’s hands intertwined in every minute of detail. From my birth and early years in Haiti to my relocation to New York City in 1985, God has shown His sovereignty and grace every step of the way. The Lord has truly been better to me than I deserve. I am the proud father of four wonderful God-fearing children, Frances, Chris, Abi-Ananiah, and Lydia, and the husband to the best wife for which a man could have ever hoped.
Every member of my family is passionate about the following two things: a love for Jesus and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Learning is central to our family primarily because we have come to understand that education is the great equalizer. My children probably cannot count the number of times they have heard me express my philosophy of education. This philosophy can be simplified by the following two statements: “education is the great equalizer” and “it is difficult for people to deny you when you are overwhelmingly educated and qualified”.
My educational trek reflects my philosophy of education. I’ve earned a bachelor’s in physics from the City University of New York, a master’s in Divinity (M.Div.) from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a master’s in human services/counseling in marriage and family from Liberty University, and an educational specialist (Ed. S.) from Liberty University. I have not, however, concluded my educational trek. The fact is as long as I am alive, I must continue to learn new things.
My passion for learning leans more towards math and science related fields than most other academic subjects. Mathematics and science are to me what the Xbox is to many of today’s youths. This is precisely the reason I leapt at the opportunity to lead the Emanuel Prep team. Emanuel Prep’s vision is congruent to mine. Like a voice crying in the wilderness, I have consistently been saying that we need to be more intentional about math, science, engineering, and technology in American education. My observations reveal while many other schools implement a S.T.E.A.M. effort, Emanuel Prep was actually conceived for S.T.E.A.M.! That’s a vision I can support! I am thrilled to join Emanuel Prep at the ground level to help build S.T.E.A.M. into the DNA of the school. I will build a competent team that will work diligently to continue the foundation of Emanuel Prep's intention of being a first-class school of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the type of school that will climb to the educational apex in Muscogee County and across this nation.
I am honored to partner with each of our families as we prepare our young scholars to become the leaders of the future. Please join me in carrying out the vision of Emanuel Preparatory School of Math and Science!
